Charlotte Brook
I am a barrister with Kate Sheppard Chambers, based in Wellington, with more than 20 years’ experience in criminal, public and regulatory litigation.
After my admission in 2003 I worked as a Crown Prosecutor in both Palmerston North and Wellington conducting criminal trials in the District and High Courts. I then worked for a major European law firm specialising in professional disciplinary work. In 2010 I joined the Crown Law Office where I held a number of different roles, most recently as Senior Crown Counsel in the Criminal Group, predominantly conducting appeals on behalf of the Crown in the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. I left Crown Law to commence practise on my own account, joining Kate Sheppard Chambers, in February 2025. I am on the faculty for a number of New Zealand Law Society Continuing Legal Education courses (Litigation Skills, Advanced Litigation Skills and Expert Witness) and I am a Teaching Fellow at Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington, where I teach Criminal Law (in 2023) and Criminal Procedure (commencing in February 2025).
